Nemours is seeking a part-time, casual, Learning Activities Assistant!
Nemours Estate is a 225-acre public garden and historic home dating back to 1910. Its benefactor, Alfred I. duPont, also established the Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware, which shares our campus and our history. As a historic property and public gardens, Nemours Estate is perhaps the only such location worldwide which shares a 501c3 with a pediatric hospital. As such an institution, we are uniquely placed to explore the intersections of health and wellbeing and arts, history, and horticulture.
The Learning Activities Assistant is a member of the Learning & Wellbeing Programs team, the team responsible for developing and delivering quality, fun, developmentally-meaningful educational experiences for Nemours patients and families as well as for Nemours Estate’s youngest visitors. The goal of Nemours Estate Learning Programs is to develop and run programs which benefit children’s education, but also help improve their mental and physical health and overall wellbeing.
Under the direction of the Learning & Wellbeing Programs Supervisor, and with guidance from the Learning Programs Coordinator, the Learning Activities Assistant will assist with the facilitation of learning programs and activities for Nemours Estate, which will be held within the Nemours Children’s Hospital, DE, with local community partners, and onsite at Nemours Estate.
This position will be active March through October, scheduled approximately 15 hours weekly.
Responsibilities- Nemours Estate activity carts (inpatient bedside and outpatient waiting rooms).
- Can Grow Garden programs
- Hospital school programs
- Virtual programs
- Assist with in-hospital holidays/events
- Third Thursday Estate activities
- Other programs as needed
- High School Diploma required
- Bachelor Degree in History, Museum Studies, Horticulture, Arts, Education, Special Education, or Child Development is preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children required.
- Background or interest in history, horticulture, or the arts preferred.
- Experience working at a historic property, museum or public gardens is a plus.
- Spanish language skills are preferred.
- Experience working with the disabled is preferred.
