MOU Sign-on Bonus:
Each city teacher in grades PK-8 who works in a city school for one year shall receive a bonus of $3500 total. This bonus will be payable to each teacher in two (2) lump sums per year totaling $3500. One lump sum shall be paid by the end of December 2026 for $1500 and the other by the end of June 2027 for $2000.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Certification in Early Childhood and Early Childhood Special Education
  • Ability to collaborate with staff and administrators
  • Experience working with young children in preschool programs
  • Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood
  • Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday.
  • Minimum lifting requirements- 50 pounds (with assistance).
  • Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides instructional strategies that encompass the needs of the whole child, including physical, social/emotional, and intellectual development.
  • Organizes instruction around each child's developmental needs, interests and learning styles.
  • Emphasizes the process of learning rather than focusing on products.
  • Provides instructional activities that emphasize first-hand experience with people and material.
  • Able to work as a team member coordinating activities and curriculum.
  • Implements instructional strategies that integrate play, discovery approach and learning centers.
  • Organizes and provides a language-rich environment.
  • Plans and implements learning experiences that advance the intellectual, physical and social/emotional development of all children, including developing their literacy, phonemic, print, and numeric awareness, their understanding and use of increasingly complex and varied vocabulary, their appreciation of books and their problem solving abilities.
  • Responsible for creating and reviewing lesson plans and children's assessments to ensure that the curriculum and individualized education goals are carried out.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of adaptions, modifications, and accommodations for students with special education needs to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Utilize positive behavior support strategies to support the social-emotional development of students who exhibit behavioral challenges.
  • Adapts curriculum and plans activities to accommodate children with special needs.
  • Willing to travel to provide educational services to students within natural environments (home, community preschool/child care)
