Required:
- Must hold a valid Delaware License and Special Education Teacher Certification (K-12) in accordance with 14 Del.
C. § 1531 - Must demonstrate a firm knowledge of special education laws and requirements.
- Successful completion of Praxis II exams
Required:
- Certification in ELA, Math, Science, or Social studies
- Experience in a Middle school and or High School classroom
- Experience in creating and implementing IEPs
- Data collection experience
- Experience in the implementation of research-based math and reading interventions
- Experience in accommodating and modifying curriculum
- Effectively support a caseload of students receiving special education services offering access to the general education curricula through adaptations outlined in the student's IEP.
- Develop and support the implementation of an Individual Education Plans (IEP) based on state and federal regulations
- Creates a safe and engaging classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of all students.
- Collect and use data to monitor the progress of student's goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers to provide access to content standards and materials for a student receiving special education services
- Provide individualized and small group instruction using research-based best practices
- Provide equitable access for students with disabilities through instructional and behavioral supports
- Remain up to date with best practices for creating and implementing IEPs
- Maintain an open line of communication with families about student progress regularly
- Performs other duties as assigned
