Elementary Teacher

Warner Elementary School is seeking an elementary general teacher to create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education, in accordance with each pupil's ability; and to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

Essential duties and responsibilities include teaching elementary education to elementary students, planning a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students, creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students, preparing for classes assigned, and showing written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.

The teacher is also responsible for encouraging students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior, assessing the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and providing reports as required, as well as notifying parents of student progress when necessary. Additionally, the teacher must diagnose the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities, maintaining accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation, and working cooperatively with all staff and parents.

Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications include initial, continuing or advanced Delaware licensure, certified in K-6, and certification in special education (preferred).
