Position type: temporary, part‑time.
Salary $45.60 per hour.
Summary StatementAn incumbent is responsible for conducting and/or teaching workshops, seminars and/or courses, evaluating participants, and developing and implementing curricula. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for providing individual tutoring, advisement and counseling services to the Workforce Development and Community Education Division participants/students, as well as providing support for division activities.
Nature and ScopeAn incumbent typically reports to an appropriate Workforce Development and Community Education supervisor/administrator. Duties include a variety of accountabilities pertaining to planning, organizing, and conducting workshops, seminars and/or courses, and providing tutoring, advisement and counseling services to participants/students. An incumbent may also assist in other activities such as recruitment, job placement and support services.
Principal Accountabilities- Conduct workshops, seminars or courses as assigned using effective communication and teaching techniques.
- Develop new programs, workshops or courses and syllabi, evaluate and revise existing materials.
- Select, maintain, and use materials and equipment required for teaching and training.
- Maintain participant records, evaluate progress, and prepare evaluations as required.
- Provide objective advisement and tutoring to assist successful completion of the program.
- Schedule, post, and maintain office hours to aid participant progress.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to facilitate department operations and pursue accreditation.
- Participate in departmental and campus meetings; serve on committees as required.
- Assist in developing proposals, budgets, and public relations efforts.
- Assist with extra‑curricular client activities as requested.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Knowledge of teaching techniques and methods.
- Knowledge of relevant subject matter in the incumbent’s discipline/department.
- Knowledge of counseling skills and techniques.
- Knowledge of community resources and the means to access them.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to build rapport with students and staff.
- Ability to communicate subject matter content to a diverse population in a multicultural environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Four (4) years of relevant experience.
