Job Goal
  • Effectively plan and implement the AVID System at the building level.
Job Qualifications
  • Must hold a Delaware Standard Certificate as an Educator.
  • Currently employed as an educator in the BSD.
  • Willingness to lead and exhibit integrity, high expectations for students and the program, commitment, respect, dedication to teamwork, and passion for a student‑centered environment.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and communicate effectively.
Essential Functions
  • Advocates for students and is committed to the philosophy of AVID, including support for equity and access for all students.
  • Provides leadership for the development and maintenance of an active Site Team.
  • Acts as the liaison between the Principal, Site Team and AVID District Director.
  • Acts as the liaison between the AVID counselor, AVID teachers and building staff that support AVID.
  • Uses the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework as a lens to support students and staff.
  • Oversees and is responsible for certification and data collection, including engaging the members of the Site Team in the collection of evidence and providing data.
  • Collaborates with different sites and grade levels to articulate the curriculum and activities of AVID.
  • Advocates and provides professional learning regarding AVID methodologies for other staff members at the school and within the district.
  • Facilitates Parent Meetings.
  • Plans and facilitates Contract Signing Party and End of Year Celebrations.
  • Attends monthly District Coordinator Meetings.
  • Facilitates monthly Site Team Meetings at the school building.
  • Organizes and manages student recruitment for the program (schedules interviews, sends follow‑up communication, etc.).
  • Assists with professional development for AVID Tutors and monitors tutor hours.
  • Plans & organizes field trips, college visits & guest speakers.
