College Counselor Position
For this College Counselor position, you'll be working for our high school in Wilmington, Delaware called Freire Charter School Wilmington (8th-12th Grade). Freire is all about Graduation x 2 – graduation from high school and from college. We challenge our students to achieve higher than they ever have before, and we give them the support they need to get there, including individualized college counseling.

You'll do whatever it takes to help our students navigate college and career exploration, academics, and social-emotional growth. Our College Counselor and School Social Worker connects students with the academic, college-readiness, and personal support they need to graduate ready for what's next.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor student academic performance, behavior, attendance, and social-emotional well-being, connecting students to appropriate supports as needed
- Serve as liaison between students, parents, and teachers on academic, behavioral, and social-emotional matters
- Provide brief individual or small-group counseling and support during crisis situations
- Guide students through the college process, including applications, financial aid, and College Board requirements
- Coordinate referrals to outside agencies and community resources as needed
- Attend key grade-level and student support meetings

Minimum requirements:
- School Counseling or School Social Work Certification (DE)
- Positive attitude, sense of humor, and a whatever-it-takes mindset when it comes to supporting students
- Demonstrated success working with and building trust among urban youth and their families
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Naviance and College Board strongly preferred
Pay and benefits:
We offer a competitive salary based on your experience and qualifications. This is a part-time position (15-20 hours per week) and is not benefits eligible.
