OverviewThe Charter School of Wilmington is seeking a
Long-Term Substitute Science Teacher to teach AP Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, and Biology. The assignment will begin on November 6, 2026 and will continue for a minimum of four weeks, with the potential to extend up to twelve weeks. The duration of the assignment is tentative and may be adjusted based on the employee's leave requirements and the school's staffing needs.
As the Long-Term Substitute Science Teacher, you will deliver high-quality instruction by implementing a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum. You will collaborate with teachers and instructional leaders to examine student learning, identify successes and opportunities for growth, and ensure students fulfill their academic and personal potential.
Key Responsibilities- Execute a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum and adopt a data-driven approach in assessing students' progress

- Possess a growth mindset and be quick to incorporate feedback into your daily practice

- Collaborate effectively within the department to align instruction, share best practices, and support student success
- 3+ years of teaching experience preferred
- Preferred experience teaching
AP Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, and Biology - Understanding of high school science standards preferred
- Demonstrated experience closing student opportunity gaps
- Commitment and enthusiasm for working with a high-performing student population focused on implementing best practices related to community and cultural awareness
- Optimism, resilience, curiosity, and a strong passion for personal growth and student and teacher success
Bachelor's Degree in secondary education with a concentration in science or Bachelor's Degree in science with education certification. Master's Degree preferred.
Salary will be computed in accordance with the credentials of the individual selected. Direct deposit of payroll checks is mandatory for state employment, and employees are paid on a lag pay schedule with the first payment made after approximately one month of employment.
Notes
Offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory results from a criminal background check, Delaware Child Protection Registry check, and tuberculin (TB) test, as well as verification that the individual holds all required licensure and certifications for the position. All requirements must be completed and cleared prior to the employee's start date.
