Key Responsibilities

Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs):
Create tailored educational plans that address the unique needs of each student, ensuring they meet their academic and social goals.
Adapt Curriculum:
Modify general education lessons to accommodate students with various disabilities, including physical, cognitive, emotional, and learning impairments.
Assess Student Progress:
Regularly evaluate and monitor students’ academic and behavioral progress, adjusting teaching strategies as necessary to support their development.
Collaborate with Professionals:
Work closely with parents, general education teachers, and other specialists (such as speech therapists and occupational therapists) to provide comprehensive support for students.
Create a Supportive Environment:
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages learning and social interaction among students with diverse needs.

Qualifications

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field is typically required. Some positions may require a Master’s degree or additional certifications.
Certification:
Must hold a valid teaching certificate with a special education endorsement, as required by state regulations.

Experience:

Experience working with children with disabilities, either through internships, volunteer work, or previous teaching roles, is highly beneficial.

Ability to remain patient and understanding while working with students who may have challenging behaviors or learning difficulties.

Organizational

Skills:

Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple IEPs, assessments, and classroom activities effectively.
Pre‑K: 8:50 AM – 4:30 PM
Elementary: 8:25 AM – 3:55 PM
Middle School: 7:45 AM – 3:10 PM
High School: 7:15 AM – 2:45 PM
