Job Summary
The Senior Electrical Engineer Train Control Maintenance Compliance will support operations and modifications to Amtrak’s train control systems. This individual will be responsible for supporting maintenance and troubleshooting of operations train control systems, audit of system compliances, signal system data analysis, generation of technical instructions and drawings and testing and commissioning support. Additionally, he/she will be responsible for training Amtrak force account, maintenance, system monitoring, asset database maintenance and system troubleshooting and interaction with division management.
Essential Functions
- Monitors performance of operational train control systems.
- Analyzes and generate reports on signal system performance and maintenance to identify trends and drive improvements to infrastructure and processes.
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of the train control system
· Provides train control technical assistance to Amtrak forces including troubleshooting and repair oversight. - Recommends design modifications and standards based on investigation of operating system performance.
- Supports development and maintenance of standard specification, drawings, technical instructions, tests and procedures to ensure safe, reliable and compliant operation of all train control equipment and configurations.
- Responsible for coordinating activities in the field and for identifying and resolving discrepancies between field conditions and Amtrak standards.
- Inspects, evaluates and accepts signal and communications and related equipment for use with Amtrak's train control system.
- Participates in the development of interoperability standards and procedures with tenant freight and passenger railroads.
- Supervises vendor compliance to Amtrak standards of quality and workmanship.
- Provide train control technical training and support to Force Account personnel.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required or equivalent combination of training, education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Must have Extensive Communications and Signaling experience.
- Must have experience working in the design, commissioning, and/or maintenance of train control systems.
- Experience with AMT 23 AMT 27.Ability to coordinate projects between many different disciplines.
- Must have familiarity with communications and train control standard industry practices.
- Must be familiar with control and monitoring systems.
- Demonstrated experience in working effectively with multiple teams.
- Demonstrated experience communicating orally and in writing within and outside of the organization.
- Ability to develop technical instruction documents.
- Ability to organize and analyze data and generate reports.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office Tools, Maximo or equivalent maintenance tracking software, and other standard applications.
- Ability to coach and mentor others.
- Analyze situations and problems.
- Knowledge of Federal regulations and directives.
- Ability to function in a stressful environment.
6 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering with 6-9 years relevant experience preferred or twelve years equivalent combination of education, training and experience
