ResponsibilitiesThe Analytical Technologist will support the X-ray, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), and Microscopy competencies within the Leveraged Analytical Sciences group. The selected candidate will work under the direction of experienced scientists to provide analytical support for Research & Development (R&D), Technical Service & Development (TS&D), and Manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare samples, reagents, and standards for analysis following established laboratory procedures.
- Perform X-ray Diffraction (XRD), X-ray Tomography (XRT), and electron microscopy data acquisition while assessing basic data quality.
- Conduct ultramicrotomy to prepare sample cross-sections for analysis.
- Perform routine instrument operation and preventive maintenance.
- Dispose of laboratory waste in accordance with established safety and environmental protocols.
- Perform routine Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) cryogen refills following established procedures.
- Safely handle cryogenic materials and systems while adhering to all applicable safety requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related scientific field; or equivalent knowledge gained through relevant on-the-job experience.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong skills in sample preparation and safe chemical handling.
- Experience operating a variety of laboratory instrumentation in a chemical laboratory environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to laboratory safety and adherence to established safety protocols.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
