Position: Medical Assistant I, Wilmington Adult Medicine

Overview

Christiana Care Wilmington Adult Medicine is looking for a Medical Assistant I.

Christiana Care Wilmington Adult Medicine is located at 501 W. 14th Street in Wilmington, Delaware. Wilmington Adult Medicine Center serves as an academic practice, featuring physicians who are also educators and faculty members. This integration allows resident doctors to be involved in patient care alongside experienced faculty who engage in research and mentorship, fostering innovative and compassionate care teams, many of whom remain with Christiana Care.

The center enhances its primary care services through amenities such as an on-site pharmacy, diagnostic testing, social services, and various patient wellness and educational programs. The range of services provided includes preventative and sick visits for adults, palliative care, nutrition services, and geriatrics.

As a Medical Assistant I, you will assist physicians during the examination and treatment of patients, whether through virtual or on-site appointments. This role is crucial for delivering quality patient care and encompasses various clinical and clerical duties within the medical practice.

Work Schedule
  • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 8am to 5pm
  • Tuesday from 8am to 7pm
Duties / Responsibilities
  • Greet and assist patients both virtually and on-site; room patients and prepare them for visits by taking and recording vital signs.
  • Perform point-of-care testing, administer injections and medications, and conduct EKGs when needed.
  • Support clinicians during examinations and procedures; prepare treatment rooms with essential supplies; complete patient-specific paperwork; ensure EMR is up to date with relevant test results for subsequent visits.
  • Handle patient callbacks with information as directed by providers and follow state guidelines for sterilization of medical equipment.
  • Manage prior authorizations, referrals, medication refills, schedule tests and surgeries, and perform quality control on point-of-care testing equipment.
  • Provide documentation assistance during provider examinations and procedures; undertake clerical tasks as assigned by supervisors; troubleshoot issues with video visits; help patients use Christiana Care’s Patient Portal.
  • Work safely, adhere to departmental safety rules, and promptly report any unsafe conditions or violations.

Education Requirements
  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Hourly Pay Range: $19.10 - $27.69

This pay rate/range represents Christiana Care’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
