Summary StatementThis incumbent works under the supervision of a technical superior & is responsible for assisting and/or instructing clients in therapy activities such as performing basic living skills, sensorimotor activities, psychosocial activities or preparing individuals for therapy. Provides instruction in the use of therapy equipment. Observes, records, & reports client progress. Participates in treatment team meetings. Requisition s supplies and services. Ensures work area & equipment are clean.
Performs job-related tasks as required. Works collaboratively with all facility departments for best possible care.

- Assists and/or instructs individuals in performing prescribed therapy treatments to improve their ability to perform daily living activities.
- Provides instruction in the use of therapeutic equipment.
- Observes and records an individual's progress in performing therapy activities.
- Participates in treatment team meetings to provide input in the development of an individual's treatment plan.
- Maintains records, writes reports and requisitions supplies and materials.
- Ensures work area, equipment and materials are clean.
- May plan and organize trips to encourage and increase an individuals living skills development.
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Therapy Aide Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
- Knowledge of conducting individual or group activities.
- Knowledge of working with persons with disabilities.
- Knowledge of applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of data collection which includes collecting, compiling and maintaining data from multiple sources such as files, records, databases, customers, staff or others.
- Knowledge of record keeping.
This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
Conditions of HireThis position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable terms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.
