A. Miller Hospitality Group (JAM) is seeking a part‑time Event Designer for our Bellevue Hall & Cauffiel Estate venues in Wilmington, DE. The role requires on‑site presence for events and client visits, with many behind‑the‑scenes duties completed remotely.
- Act as main point of contact for each client once introduced by the Venue Manager.
- Schedule and conduct appointments (in person or by phone) for menu development, tastings, floor plans, etc.
- Respond to client emails within 48 hours.
- Complete event planning forms on time for various departments.
- Schedule and conduct venue walkthroughs with each client prior to the event.
- Execute and oversee day‑of event coordination, acting as the primary client contact.
- Assume additional shifts and administrative tasks as needed, including roles such as Assistant Event Coordinator, bartender, venue tours, and tasks assigned by the Director or Assistant Director of Planning.
- 6‑8 month training under a designated mentor, paid upon completion.
- Commitment to planning 15 wedding events (first occurring in 2027).
- Average of 10 hours client‑facing and 10‑15 hours behind the scenes per wedding.
- Hybrid model: remote client communication (email, virtual meetings) conducted from home.
- Availability for client meetings—virtual or in‑person—across daytime and evening windows, with flexibility for weekends (Fri‑Sun) for tours, rehearsals, and day‑of coordination.
- 2‑4 years of experience in planning, events, or a similar field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, SharePoint, Teams) and Google Chrome for paperwork and documents.
- Own laptop (PC preferred over Apple).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive to Wilmington venues.
- Strong planning and organizational skills to manage events of all sizes.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer‑service skills—warm, professional, and supportive.
- Ability to thrive in a deadline‑oriented, fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Weekend and weekday/weeknight availability as required.
- Commission‑based: $700‑$1,200 per event, paid in the period immediately after the wedding.
- Potential gratuities averaging $200 per event (not guaranteed).
- Bonuses and additional commissions for package planning, flawless paperwork, décor rentals, and rehearsals.
- Training stipend paid upon completion.
- Possible assistant‑coordinator hours at an hourly rate.
