The State Government Finance and System Project Manager leads public-sector modernization engagements. This role serves as a trusted advisor embedded within state, county, and municipal agencies to drive enterprise software initiatives, business process optimizations, and strategic IT transformations. The Project Manager manages client relationships, directs cross-functional project teams, and ensures the successful delivery of varying client-side milestones across multiple simultaneous or sequential engagements.
Job Duties:
* Provides project management support for client project management teams leading software selection, implementations, and system integrations
* Handles core systems and staff augmentation roles
* Develops, builds, and revises procedures and client playbooks for system rollouts
* Helps to protect clients from vendor scope creep and monitors project risks
* Oversees documentation, project timelines, and internal and vendor-facing deliverables
* Other duties as required to support changing client needs across different agency engagements
Supervisory Responsibilities:
* Supervises, develops, and trains Project Manager Associates and Senior Associates
* Reviews and evaluates work of the Associates and Senior Associates
* Provides verbal and written performance feedback to Associates and Senior Associates
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education:
* Bachelor's degree, required; focus in Business, Accounting or Finance, preferred
Experience:
* Five (5) or more years of experience in project management, required
* Familiar with ERP systems & technology implementation best practices (eg. Infor, Workday, Netsuite, Tyler, Open Gov, etc.), preferred
* Experience with State and Local Government, nonprofit, and other highly regulated industries, preferred
License/
Certifications:
* CAPM or PMP, required
* Smart Sheet certifications, preferred
Software:
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, required
* Smart Sheet experience, preferred
* SharePoint experience, preferred
Language:
* N/A
Other Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, specifically business / report writing
* Strong analytical and basic research skills
* Solid organizational skills, especially the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
* Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment
* Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
* Ability to work with minimal supervision
Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
Maryland Range: $120,000 - $165,000
New Jersey Range: $120,000 - $165,000
