Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree
- RID's National Interpreter Certification (Specialist Certificate: Legal preferred)
- Native‑Like Fluency in American Sign Language and English
- Extensive knowledge and experience in educational and other interpreting situations
- Criminal background check and drug screening required prior to employment

Responsibilities- Provide ASL/English interpretation and transliteration for on‑demand and regularly scheduled in‑person and virtual meetings, presentations, trainings, home/site visits, and events. Assignments may include a mix of recurring and one‑time engagements, with occasional travel as needed. May involve working in diverse settings (e.g. schools, classrooms, homes, pediatric nursing facilities, conferences, etc.)
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Professional Conduct.
- Demonstrate advanced interpreting skills, including appropriate register choice, context‑specific and idiosyncratic vocabulary, tone, and content accuracy.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and collaborate effectively with internal staff, external partners, agencies, and fellow interpreters.
- Exhibit cognitive flexibility and adaptability in dynamic or rapidly changing interpreting environments.
- Maintain consistent, grammatically accurate, and register‑appropriate interpretation from ASL to spoken English.
- Coordinate and schedule contracted interpreters as needed, offering mentoring and coaching when appropriate.
- Communicate with relevant staff to obtain preparation materials for upcoming interpreting assignments.
- Develop and implement a data collection and management process to track interpreter service usage; regularly submit reports to the Director detailing service hours, costs, audience demographics, and other relevant metrics.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
