Legal Assistant / Paralegal - Insurance Defense - Wilmington, DE - $75-80k
Growing insurance defense firm in Wilmington, DE is seeking a Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join their team!
ResponsibilitiesPleadings & Discovery: Draft, prepare, and finalize legal documents, including answers, motions, interrogatories, requests for production, and other standard discovery responses.
Case Management & Filing: Manage attorney litigation calendars and deadlines. Perform electronic filing (e-filing) in Delaware state (Superior Court) and federal courts, ensuring compliance with local rules.
Document Review: Summarize and analyze large volumes of records, including medical records, billing statements, and deposition transcripts.
Legal Research: Conduct research on Delaware case law and statutes relevant to personal injury and insurance claims.
Trial Preparation: Assist with all aspects of trial preparation, including drafting exhibit and witness lists, preparing trial binders, and organizing demonstrative evidence.
Communication: Serve as a key communication link between the attorney, insurance adjusters (clients), opposing counsel, and expert witnesses.
Administrative Support: Manage client billing (time entry), scheduling (depositions, mediations, hearings), and complex file organization.
Required QualificationsExperience: 3+ years as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant in insurance defense litigation.
Delaware Focus: Mandatory working knowledge of Delaware Court rules and e-filing protocols.
Education: Paralegal Certificate or Associate's/Bachelor's degree preferred.
Skills: High proficiency in legal research tools (Westlaw/Lexis Nexis), MS Office Suite, and case management software. Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
