Job Description & How to Apply Below

Richards, Layton & Finger, Delaware's largest law firm, seeks a Legal Administrative Assistant for the Litigation team in Wilmington, Delaware. The standard hours are 9:00am - 5:30pm, on a hybrid schedule (in office 4-days and remote on Fridays). After training, you will follow a structured hybrid schedule. In this role, you will be a key member of a busy practice supporting complex litigation matters in Delaware state and federal courts, with substantial responsibility for deadlines, filings, and day‑to‑day case management.

You will work within a collaborative, team‑based model, partnering closely with multiple attorneys, paralegals, and fellow secretaries to keep sophisticated matters moving efficiently. After an initial training period, the position follows a regular hybrid schedule of four days in the office and one remote day per week, with some reasonable flexibility to accommodate occasional personal appointments and peak workload needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage active calendars and litigation dockets for multiple attorneys, including court deadlines, hearings, depositions, and client meetings.
  • Experience in Delaware courts preferred.
  • Prepare, format, and proofread a high volume of pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence for complex matters with a strong focus on accuracy and consistency.
  • Handle electronic filing in District Court (Pacer CM/ECF) and Chancery Court (File&Serve), and other Delaware Court systems, ensuring compliance with court rules and local practices.
  • Coordinate with paralegals and attorneys to organize case files, exhibits, and hearing/trial materials, and to keep case teams informed of approaching deadlines.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, court staff, opposing counsel, and internal team members.
  • Assist with time entry, expense reporting, and other administrative tasks to support efficient and accurate billing.

What we’re looking for

  • Significant experience as a litigation legal secretary, including hands‑on responsibility for e‑filing and managing a high volume of work in a deadline‑driven environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and solid typing skills (around 60 wpm), with the ability to learn firm systems quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and a professional presence.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple attorneys and matters at once, prioritize effectively, and stay calm under pressure.
  • A genuine commitment to quality work, reliability, and long‑term growth within a litigation practice.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team, including supporting other practice areas when needed.

If you are an experienced litigation secretary who takes ownership of your work, enjoys being part of a strong team, and is looking for a long‑term home in a respected Delaware firm, we would like to hear from you. Please go to  to apply.
