Job GoalThe job of FLEET TECHNICIAN is done for the purpose/s of determining needed repairs and/or replacements on district vehicles; ensuring the availability of vehicles in safe operating condition; and providing written documentation of repairs to meet district, state and federal requirements.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Perform routine fluid checks (e.g., oil, coolant, transmission, brake, and windshield washer) to ensure all vehicles are properly maintained.
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance inspections on school buses and district vehicles to ensure they meet safety and compliance standards.
- Complete oil changes and filter replacements according to manufacturer and district maintenance schedules.
- Perform minor cosmetic repairs (e.g., replacing lights, mirrors, wiper blades; fixing minor body damage; interior repairs) to maintain vehicle appearance and functionality.
- Document all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs in the district’s fleet management system.
- Assist mechanics or transportation staff with basic tasks as needed to support overall fleet readiness.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, adhering to all district, state, and federal safety requirements.
All applicants must be able and willing to train to get their CDL and proper endorsements to drive a School Bus for OCS.
Minimum Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check for the candidate who is offered employment
- Tuberculin Test
- Mandatory Direct Deposit of paycheck
