Job SummaryThe Outbound Operations Supervisor is a people leader responsible for executing all pulling and outbound shipping activities. Reporting to the Outbound Operations Manager, this role involves designing efficient methods for the outbound team to ensure freight is pulled, sorted, packed, and loaded safely, with high quality and timeliness. The supervisor maintains high operational standards while fostering a culture of engagement, empowerment, and problem-solving among team members.
Responsibilities- Supervise and implement outbound operations functions, instructing employees, monitoring progress, and troubleshooting as needed.
- Maintain organization of truck yard operations, trailers, housekeeping, maintenance, and safety protocols.
- Ensure adherence to security and safety rules, creating a safe environment for all employees.
- Manage budget awareness and support cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
- Lead and motivate warehouse associates, promoting engagement and empowerment.
- Collaborate with management to resolve shipping errors and prevent future issues.
- Schedule team hours for peak periods to maximize efficiency.
- Protect company assets, ensuring proper use and security of equipment and facilities.
- Lead efficient processing of outbound orders and related activities.
- Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction and operational improvements.
- Foster a culture of engagement, mentorship, and proactive problem-solving.
- Oversee truck load reconciliation and design protocols for shuttle truck loading.
- Ensure compliance with company and supplier guidelines for factory returns.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of experience in a distribution center or similar environment.
- Ability to follow safety requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Good judgment and computer skills.
- Capability to lift/move up to 60 lbs.
- Forklift and pallet jack certification.
- Over 2 years of experience in a distribution environment.
- Over 1 year in a managerial or team-leading role.
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma and relevant tools.
- Experience in automotive or retail distribution centers.
- Proficiency with MS Office, Power BI, Visio, etc.
- Customer-centric approach, enthusiasm for data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
