Press/Machine Operator

We have an opening for a highly motivated individual in the Gannett corporation at one of our regional print facilities.

This is a fast-paced manufacturing operation that requires basic mechanical and production skill sets. This is a full-time role with compensation of $20-$25 per hour based on experience.

The Wilmington GPS group is seeking a full-time Press/Machine Operator to assist with daily production on our Goss HO presses. The work includes preparing the presses for production, operating the presses or their components, cleaning the presses and the pressroom, maintaining mechanical readiness, and other duties as assigned.

• Operate and assist with daily production on Goss HO presses, including preparing presses for production and operating presses or components
• Clean the presses and pressroom; maintain mechanical readiness of the presses
• Assist with other duties as assigned
• Contribute to goals of pressroom staff: optimum quality of printed products, observance of start/stop times, conservation of materials (especially newsprint), and a clean and safe working environment

• This position requires a high school education or equivalent. Three years’ experience in web offset printing is desirable; production experience of any kind may be helpful
• Mechanical ability and familiarity with computers is preferred
• Candidates should be able to adapt to change, prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, remain flexible, and interact with people while demonstrating patience
• You must be able to lift/carry up to 100 pounds
• Must be able to push/pull up to 2000 pounds
• A press operator spends most working hours on their feet; climb stairs on the six-level press structure; may need to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; work in confined areas
• Color vision is required
• This position is full-time shift work, which may include scheduled nights and weekends
