A client of Express Employment Professionals – Union, NJ is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Terminal Operator to support fuel operations at a local fuel terminal. This hands‑on role is responsible for safely receiving, storing, and transferring petroleum products, ensuring all operations comply with safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and operate terminal equipment to safely load and unload fuel products from trucks, pipelines, barges, or railcars.
- Perform tank gauging and sampling to verify product levels, quality, and integrity.
- Operate valves, pumps, meters, and other terminal equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections of tanks, pipes, hoses, and safety equipment to ensure safe and leak‑free operation.
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper handling of hazardous materials, use of PPE, and emergency response procedures.
- Complete logs, reports, and documentation related to fuel movements, inventory, and maintenance activities.
- Assist with preventive maintenance tasks and coordinate with maintenance teams when repairs are needed.
- Communicate with drivers, dispatchers, and supervisors to coordinate daily loading schedules and fuel deliveries.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1+ year of experience in terminal operations, fuel handling, or industrial process environments preferred.
- Basic knowledge of fuel products, terminal systems, and safety regulations (OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.).
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate valves, gauges, and control systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety and environmental procedures.
- Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, or be on‑call as needed.
