About This Role

Dow is seeking a Pilot Plant Technician in Wilmington, DE. You are a self‑starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks. You will support the operation of the Research & Development Pilot Plant, working directly with engineers, scientists, leaders, and other technicians to ensure safe and proficient operation of the plants. The role includes:

Responsibilities
  • Operate and field‑check process equipment, monitor process conditions, equipment and control systems in a defined area.
  • Perform tasks assigned to operations as per the Master Task List, including field checks, equipment preparation, sample collection, and related duties.
  • Utilize troubleshooting skills to resolve process‑related deviations and problems, and understand how assigned duties integrate with other teams.
  • Monitor, collect, and input plant metrics for Statistical Process Control, asset utilization, conversion costs and production yields, identifying opportunities for plant optimization.
  • Apply process knowledge to improve plant performance and operating discipline, including creating and refining job procedures.
  • Write Safe Working Procedures (SWPs) and perform lock‑out/tag‑out actions.
  • Participate in Root Cause Investigations.
  • Respond to process upset or crisis activities assigned by the Pilot Plant Technologist.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Life‑Critical Standards, operate plant discipline, and serve as a safety culture role model.
  • Complete all training assigned by the facility training plan.
  • Move and lift drums (55gal) and equipment up to 50lb.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s Degree or higher in Process Technology, Chemistry, Biology or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of relevant technical military experience or training, or 3+ years in a chemical facility operations role or similar industry.
  • Willingness and ability to work a shift schedule, including rotating 12‑hour shifts.
  • Ability to work overtime and holidays as needed.
  • Eligibility to work legally in the United States. (No visa sponsorship.)
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in a chemical, manufacturing, oil/gas or industrial environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Wear safety equipment (earplugs, goggles, steel‑toed shoes). Use respirators when required.
  • Frequent bending, reaching and lifting of material up to ~50lb, including repositioning of 55gal drums on pallets.
  • Work in tight or closed spaces; climb stairs/ladders; work high off the ground.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods.
