Registered Nurse Time​/Night Shifts

Registered Nurse (Full‑Time Day/Night Shift & PRN) – Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, Wilmington, DE

Vital Core Health Strategies (VCHS) is seeking dedicated Registered Nurses (RN) for full‑time day, night shift, and PRN positions at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution. Candidates must be available for at least 3–6 weeks of onsite training.

The RN delivers quality care consistent with the local state nurse practice act. The RN works within local practice acts and regulations, delegates and ensures supervision of nursing activities, and assumes responsibility for the quality of care delivered. The RN promotes a safe environment, acts as a patient advocate, and leads best practices within the nursing profession.

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment
• Active CPR certification
• Knowledgeable about specific state laws and regulations governing practice
• Completion of initial and annual clinical competencies as required by the role

• Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records
• Administer medications and monitor patients for reactions and side effects
• Record patients’ medical information and vital signs
• Monitor, record, and report changes in patients’ condition
• Consult and coordinate with the healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans
• Modify patient treatment plans based on patient responses and conditions
• Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity
• Direct or supervise less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel, or supervise a unit
• Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments
• Instruct individuals, families, or groups on health education, disease prevention, and childbirth; develop health improvement programs
• Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, or supplies and ensure stock is maintained
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patient condition
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the facility

• Full‑Time – 12‑hour shifts (8a–8p, 8p–8a), rotating weekends
• Part‑Time – 12‑hour shifts (8a–8p, 8p–8a), rotating weekends
• PRN – 2 shifts per month; must complete 3–6 weeks of onsite training
• Night Shift – 12‑hour shifts (8p–8a); PRN staff required to work 2 shifts per month

• Weekday (Mon‑Fri): $4.25
• Weekend (Sat/Sun): $5.75
• 3p–11pm: $3.50
• 11p–7:30a: $4.50
• Day: $6.00
