Overview
Part-time Registered Nurse needed on the Maternity floor. Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 28 hours per week with every-other weekend and rotating holidays.
Responsibilities- Plan and render nursing care within an assigned unit; provide direct patient care and maintain clinical records reflecting the patient’s condition, medications, treatments, examinations, and progress in accordance with the Delaware Nursing Practice Act and hospital policies.
- Adhere to nursing practice standards and perform assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Perform a comprehensive assessment of the neonate and apply knowledge of normal newborn transitional care (thermoregulation, glucose monitoring, respiratory status).
- Plan and deliver care for newborns with complications; identify patient needs based on objective data and document accordingly.
- Implement appropriate nursing actions for identified patient needs; exercise sound judgment and clinical decision-making.
- Communicate with parents about planned patient care and expected outcomes; document discussions and provide written instructions and materials to parents.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate delivery of patient care and coordinate discharge planning; educate parents on follow-up care and activities.
- Document understanding of instructions and ensure clear, precise observations using proper charting methods.
- Receive and give comprehensive patient reports as needed; initiate clinical pathways/plan of care on admission for appropriate patient populations.
- ASN required; BSN preferred, from an accredited school of nursing
- Active RN license in the state of Delaware
- Previous maternity experience preferred; open to other nursing backgrounds
- BLS required
- NRP certification to be obtained within 6 months of employment
