The Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical will provide high-quality patient care in the medical-surgical unit, collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure effective treatment, recovery, and patient safety. This role involves assessing, planning, and delivering patient care, ensuring compliance with healthcare protocols, and offering emotional support to patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Care:
Provide direct and comprehensive care to patients in a medical-surgical setting. - Assessment & Monitoring:
Assess patients’ medical conditions, monitor vital signs, and identify changes in the patient’s condition. - Treatment & Medication:
Administer prescribed medications, wound care, and other treatments in compliance with established protocols. - Collaboration:
Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans. - Patient
Education:
Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, discharge instructions, and preventive healthcare practices. - Documentation:
Maintain accurate, detailed records of patient care and progress, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards. - Safety & Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols, including infection control procedures and use of personal protective equipment (PPE). - Emergency Response:
Respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate, life-saving care when necessary. - Patient Advocacy:
Act as an advocate for patients’ rights and preferences throughout the care process.
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program. - Licensure:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license. - Experience:
Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years. - Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required;
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred). - Skills:
Strong clinical skills, including patient assessment, medication administration, and wound care. - Personal Qualities:
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience:
Prior experience working in a medical-surgical unit. - Certifications:
ACLS or other specialized certifications (preferred). - Specialized Knowledge:
Familiarity with EMR systems and hospital-specific software.

- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (preferred)
