Ashland has an exciting opportunity in the Pharmaceutical Aquarius™ Film Coating’s Team at our Wilmington, Delaware location. This temporary role reports to the North America Aquarius™ Film Coating R&D Team Leader.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Support pharmaceutical film coating technical service and new product development team.
- Contribute to the development of fully formulated film coating systems for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries.
- Provide technical assistance and support to Production for product scale‑up, quality control activities, and application testing, as required.
- Operate coating equipment such as perforated pans and fluid beds; compression equipment like tablet presses; and analytical equipment such as Dissolution and tablet characterization equipment.
- Maintain technical information by preparing reports and maintaining records to document and retain information.
- Comply with company procedural guidelines, laboratory procedures, and safety programs.
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
- Educated to bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical sciences, Chemical engineering, or similar related scientific fields.
- Minimum 1–2 years of hands‑on experience with solid‑dosage unit operations, such as tablet compression, film coating, and fluid‑bed processing.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel specifically.
- Good interpersonal and presentation skills to share development work within the organization.
- Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work in physically challenging environments: lift 25 pounds and move up to 50 pounds when working with bulk ingredients, operate pilot scale equipment.
- Be authorized to work in the United States.
The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:
- Previous experience in technical service, tech-ops support or technical transfer experience is a definite plus.
- Understanding of pharmaceutical and dietary supplement oral solid dosage forms like tablets and capsules.
- Experienced in pharmaceutical and dietary supplement film coating development and color matching.
- Ability to interpret color difference, color theory/colorimetry, and properties of pigments.
