Job DescriptionThe Head of Business Development, US Credit Cards & Unsecured Lending will be responsible for setting and executing business development strategy for TD's US Credit Card business. The leader will drive transformative growth and build on TD's momentum by establishing and executing clear strategies and goals to increase the scale and profitability of the card business.
Responsibilities- Provides people‑management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling disciplinary actions.
- Works with multiple stakeholders to identify, assess, and implement innovative, strategic commercial opportunities for profitable growth of the North American Credit Card business, including sales finance, private label, co‑brand, and related financial/payment products.
- Develops strategies and action plans to acquire new business opportunities that will drive significant growth in customers, receivables, revenues and earnings while adhering to TD's risk appetite statement.
- Represents TD to potential partners and other marketplace participants, identifying, cultivating, and closing critical relationships with strategic partners.
- Ensures broad, deep relationships and builds TD's presence and credibility in the credit card partnership market.
- Manages complex contract negotiation and works with legal counsel as required.
- Leads and builds a high‑quality business development team, overseeing development of comprehensive presentations summarizing initiatives and strategic and financial impacts for senior executives and the board.
- Works with internal partners, including Investor Relations and Legal, on external presentations.
- Serves as a key member of the CCUL team that sets the company’s strategic direction.
- Manages multiple concurrent business development initiatives and drives the development of the work ethic, culture, and values of the business development group.
- Establishes style and approach consistent with TD's leadership profile through personal example.
4‑year degree or equivalent experience required.
Qualifications- 10+ years related experience.
- Superior sales skills with a proven history of attracting and developing new client relationships.
- Excellent negotiation skills and ability to influence outcomes creatively.
- Strong management, organizational, and leadership skills; ability to train and motivate a sales team effectively.
- Strong knowledge of credit‑card industry practices, products, services, competitors, typical contract terms, and the credit‑decision process.
- Analytical ability to develop an understanding of client business and financials.
- Ability to conceptualize and implement strategies to meet the company’s needs.
- Proven ability to manage several large projects simultaneously.
- Ability to objectively assess how actions and decisions will affect each department.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
