Senior Applications Scientist – Commercial Support Team

Position SummaryThe Senior Scientist will serve as a technical leader, driving customer success in the application, implementation, and technical advancement of AMT’s HPLC and LC‑MS products. This role blends hands‑on laboratory work, technical support, and leadership in application development, method optimization, and customer engagement. The position is both laboratory and customer‑facing, supporting sales channels, strategic partners, and distributors through technical expertise, training, and content development.
Key Responsibilities Sales Channel & Customer Engagement- Actively support sales and marketing teams by participating in customer visits, Lunch & Learn sessions, webinars, trade shows, and other customer‑facing events.
- Serve as a technical expert during marketing and on‑site sales activities.
- Educate and train customers, distributors, and internal staff on AMT products and applications.
- Develop and optimize HPLC and LC‑MS methods for complex applications in pharma, biopharmaceutical, and other market segments. Utilize best practices for robust experimental planning for application development, including design of experiments, data analysis, and robust experimental planning.
- Serve as an internal and external resource for HPLC workflows, including sample preparation, analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with the Quality team to provide method development guidance and support issue resolution.
- Present data and technical content in written and verbal formats, including webinars, seminars, conferences, and scientific publications.
- Serve on new product introduction (NPI) committees, providing application‑based technical input for product design and development as appropriate.
- Deliver technical assistance to customers, distributors, and partners for successful implementation and troubleshooting of AMT’s products.
- Generate impactful HPLC and LCMS data for research, white papers, application notes, and technical content for marketing tactics.
- Act as the voice of the customer, providing feedback to improve products and services.
- Mentor and train junior scientists and technical staff.
- Work with R&D, quality, sales, and marketing teams to enhance customer experience and drive business growth.
- Ph.D. or M.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.
- Minimum 5–10 years of hands‑on experience in liquid chromatography, including method development and troubleshooting for small molecule applications and ideally biopharmaceutical applications.
- Experience in customer‑facing technical support roles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM tools, and laboratory software.
- Possesses strong expertise in HPLC, with practical experience in Reverse‑Phase, HILIC, SEC. Maintains working knowledge of additional chromatographic modes (e.g., ion exchange, etc.).
- Experienced in using chromatography software for method setup, data acquisition, processing and reporting (e.g., Lab Solutions, Empower, Chem Station, etc.).
- Proficient in mass spectrometry instrumentation and software, e.g., triple quadrupole platforms, with the ability to operate systems, develop methods, acquire and process data.

Ability to deliver projects on time and adapt to changing priorities.
CommunicationAbility to clearly, concisely, and effectively communicate information through both written and verbal formats.
Positive, action‑oriented attitude, and strong interpersonal skills.
Willingness to mentor others to cross‑train and support the building of the technical bench.
Additional Information- Willingness to travel globally (up to 10‑20%) for customer visits, conferences, and training.
- Must have documentation to work in the United States.
- Must be capable of safely working with chemicals and hazardous materials, and ensure safe laboratory practices and compliance with safety protocols.
