HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer, Building Maintenance
This is a full-time, Skilled Craftsman/HVAC Maintenance Technician position for the Caesar Rodney School District.
Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated aptitude and competencies for assigned responsibilities
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience in HVAC trade
- Approved certificates or successful time-in-trade for HVAC/maintenance related fields
- Maintain a valid driver's license at all times
- Experience with plumbing, electric, and general construction preferred
Supervisor of Facilities Management
Job GoalTo be responsible for the maintenance and operation of the HVAC/Lighting controls systems and equipment to ensure an optimum facility comfort level and the energy efficiency and longevity of the District's equipment. To repair and maintain all facilities and equipment within the District employing electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical skills that do not require licensure by the State or other regulatory agencies and are beyond the capabilities of building level custodians.
PerformanceResponsibilities
- Responds to work orders issued by Supervisor in a timely fashion.
- Installs, maintains and repairs heating, ventilating, air conditioning and steam distribution equipment and controls/systems to optimize energy use.
- Contacts outside contractor/vendor for repairs when necessary for approved work orders.
- Manipulates the District's HVAC controls with regard to State mandated temperature settings, ASHRAE code compliance, daily building use schedules and optimum energy consumption.
- Assist maintenance team with district wide snow/ice removal and other maintenance work orders.
- Maintains assigned District vehicle to assure safe operation.
- Must respond to emergency calls outside of normal business hours in reasonable amount of time.
- Report all potential problems to the Supervisor of Facilities Management or designee.
- Provide technical assistance to custodians at all facilities to enhance District-wide preventive maintenance.
- Report any safety violations to building principal when observed while working in the facility.
- Utilize and maintain appropriate safety equipment for any tasks which requires such.
- Maintain and secure District tools in an appropriate manner.
- Makes recommendations of supplies and equipment to be purchased by the District.
- All other duties as required by Supervisor or designee.
In accordance with the State of Delaware and local salary schedules, based on experience and degree. Benefits package included.

- All persons employed by the Caesar Rodney School District are required to submit a criminal background check and a tuberculosis test.
