POSITION: Maintenance "A" Skilled Craft/Carpenter Journeyperson/Roofer
LOCATION: Facilities and Maintenance
REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Maintenance

PRIMARY FUNCTION: To provide major repair and preventative maintenance related to assigned skill.

PERFORMANCER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for major maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance related to carpentry including all phases of hardware installations.

Responsible for major maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance related to roofing i.e. Asphalt Shingle, Membrane, Vulcanized Rubber, Tarring, Decking and Truss repair.

Able to repair leaking windows and roof drains.

Must be physically able to carry equipment, climb ladders, work from scaffolding and use the necessary tools to perform duties in a due and timely manner.

Responsible for layout and leadership on complex and major maintenance projects requiring other maintenance personnel.

Handles maintenance requests as assigned by the supervisor or his designate and paper work involved in completion of assignments such as inspection reports, long-range maintenance proposals.

Ability to obtain quotes from vendors for materials and accurately estimate the amount of materials required to do a specific assignment.

Perform maintenance in other related areas other than their demonstrated skill when needed.

Shows leadership ability as well as capability to instruct others in the demonstrated craft skill.

Operates equipment as required (including snow plowing)

Minimum Qualifications:

Completed four years State of Delaware Apprenticeship Program or equivalent (preferred)

Served Journeyperson apprenticeship with a reputable firm(s) for a minimum of six years (preferred)

Possess apprenticeship certificate of completion from a State of Delaware approved apprenticeship program (preferred)

Must have or obtain Fire School Certificate within twelve months of hire.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Must obtain a passing score on job skills test.

Physical ability to perform duties. Minimal lifting requirement of 50 pounds.

Demonstrated ability to perform the tasks in their specific craft.

The district reserves the right to review and adjust the physical requirements for the position as needed and will communicate changes to employees. The district will follow all procedures and policies in accordance with the Leave Office regarding fit for duty examinations.
