Description
Now hiring iron workers for work in the WIlmington area starting asap. Must have some iron working experience as well as MIG / Stick welding and rigging experience. Drug screen and background check required.
Erect, place, and join steel components like girders and columns to build the frameworks of structures such as skyscrapers and bridges. Must be able to read blueprints, bolt and weld steel pieces into place, and assemble prefabricated buildings or equipment.
Responsibilities- Follow all safety regulations including wearing all required personal protection equipment (PPE).
- Raise, place, and unite iron or steel structural members to form completed structures or frameworks.
- Interpret specifications and blueprints to determine the location and size of materials and to ensure proper alignment.
- Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts, and perform welding to permanently secure them.
- Operate cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment to move materials around the site.
- Install reinforcing steel, such as rebar, in concrete structures.
- May also involve cutting metal components, loading and unloading materials, and fabricating parts.
- Work from drawings, work orders and supervisor’s instructions.
- Operate hand and power tools common to the iron worker trade.
- Handle materials as needed by hand, overhead crane, forklift, and other material handling equipment.
- Maintain work area in safe, clean, and orderly condition.
- Working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain.
- Able to work 8-10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required.
- Crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, able to routinely lift heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds and pushing and pulling of objects is required.
- Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers.
- High school degree or equivalent required.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- 4+ years iron worker experience.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Must be willing to do a 4 hour safety/orientation class in southern DE.
Up to $32 depending on experience
