As a Physical Plant Maintenance/Trades Mechanic III, you’re not just tightening bolts or fixing leaks — you’re the backbone of an operation that depends on reliable, high performing facilities. You’ll take on a dynamic mix of hands‑on work, technical diagnostics, and project coordination, troubleshooting HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, or structural maintenance, and directly impacting safety, comfort, and functionality of the entire environment.

• Perform preventive routine and complex maintenance repairs on interior and exterior building structures, fixtures, bridges, heavy‑duty structural and mechanical equipment or HVAC and other systems.
• Conduct restoration and renovation on facilities, bridges, or historical buildings; construct partitions, shelving from sketches or instructions, renovate furniture and equipment, and design layout to optimize space.
• Recommend referral of jobs beyond financial or capability limits to private contractors.
• Maintain and repair compressors, pumps, hydraulic lifts, treatment and disposal plants and operate and maintain HVAC systems and complex plumbing projects.
• Operate and maintain life‑safety devices such as sprinkler systems.
• May oversee work of skilled, semi‑skilled maintenance, and laboring personnel in performing specific assignments or in a training situation.
• Maintain records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on assignments and secure materials and supplies through established procedures.
• May perform highway lighting or drawbridge maintenance.

• Six months experience operating and maintaining a variety of equipment, hand and power tools used in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, or HVAC.
• Six months experience performing work in a variety of trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, or HVAC.
• Six months experience in record keeping.
• Knowledge of interpreting blueprints, schematics or technical drawings.
• Knowledge of estimating cost, time and materials for projects.
• Possession of a valid Driver’s License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
