Position Summary
This position supports the Chief Engineer in maintaining and optimizing all building systems and operations at a JLL‑managed facility. The role ensures safety compliance, manages preventative and corrective maintenance programs, and leads hands‑on technical work across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building envelope systems. Independent problem‑solving and collaborative teamwork are required to maintain optimal building performance and client satisfaction.
ScheduleMonday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM
Pay: $45/hour
Responsibilities- Assist the Chief Engineer in enforcing safety and environmental policies, identifying hazards and risks, and implementing methods to eliminate them.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility building envelope, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other installed systems and equipment.
- Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS), respond to alarms, and diagnose issues to resolution.
- Diagnose, inspect, repair, and maintain HVAC equipment including refrigeration/air conditioning compressors, boilers, chillers, pumps, CRACs, and fans.
- Diagnose, inspect, repair, and maintain plumbing components such as restroom fixtures, flush valves, water fountains, sinks, drains, water heaters, and piping.
- Diagnose, inspect, repair, and maintain electrical components including lamp and ballast replacement, fixtures, motors, and basic wiring.
- Conduct assigned facility rounds proactively and report on conditions affecting building appearance, client occupancy, and operations.
- Order materials to support maintenance of plumbing, electrical, HVAC/controls, and toxic monitoring systems.
- Lead knowledge‑sharing sessions with team members on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, safety, and tool use.
- Minimum 5 years of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance.
- High school diploma or equivalent and years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of carpentry, HVAC/controls, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Ability to analyze system operations, determine causes of problems/malfunctions, and take corrective action.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with excellent customer service abilities.
- Ability to work independently, safely, and make sound decisions in the field.
- Physical ability to frequently walk up and down stairs, climb ladders up to 40feet, and lift 60lbs. repeatedly.
- Ability to create SOPs, EOPs, and MOPs to ensure safe and efficient work completion.
- Willingness and ability to support after‑hours building activities including shutdown operations.
- Experience operating chillers and boilers.
- Supervisory experience.
- Ability to substitute for Operating Engineers' shifts when needed.
