Position OverviewThe Transportation Planner will coordinate with transportation companies the delivery of bananas, to ensure an accurate and timely delivery of the fruit along the logistics chain, under the quality and safety standards established by the company. This role focuses on load planning, carrier coordination, shipment tracking, and issue resolution.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Direct contact for carriers with respect to Order Notification, Order Changes, Cancellations, Delayed Loads, Problem Loads, Rejections, Overweight’s and Accidents to maintain a good relationship and ensure the timely arrival of the product.
- Liaison between Carriers, Ports, Sales, Product Manager and Director of Transportation. Work with all regarding product availability and transportation issues.
- Process freight bills and resolve invoice discrepancies of carriers to ensure correct collection and payment. Maintain and update files on all freight payables.
- Prepare and distribute reports to ensure availability of necessary and timely information related to the fruit sent to the different ports.
- Maintain all files, transportation documents and reports in an organized manner and create and update Western Division Rate and Freight Differential spreadsheets.
- Work with District Managers on customer service/freight related issues for loads out of all 3 ports, solve issues and provide excellent customer service.
- Train other Transportation Divisions in Auto Pay (payable system) to comply with requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field; recent college graduates encouraged to apply.
- 1–3 years of related experience in logistics or transportation management.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems; D365 preferred.
- Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS);
Mainsail and Transship preferred. - Familiarity with One World and 3rd-party vessel websites.
- Understanding of transportation terminology and port procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to multi‑task and work in a team environment.
- Occasional travel required.
