Fast Lane Transportation, a leader in the intermodal industry, is looking for DOT CDL Truck Drivers at its Wilmington, CA terminal. Your role will play a key part in ensuring the timely delivery of freight and equipment for our customers and will contribute to our company’s ongoing reputation for reliability in the Southern California area.

As a DOT CDL Truck Driver, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting equipment between the ports and rail and other facilities including within our terminal; including cargo containers, stacked chassis, and trailers. Our drivers typically operate within a 100-mile radius of the Port of Los Angeles.

Successful candidates will be able to work as part of a team. Flexibility is essential in this work environment. Customer needs change and new opportunities occur on a regular basis. A “that’s not my job” mentality would not be a good fit.

Essential Functions include the following
  • Operates commercial vehicle tractor‑trailers, UTRs or other specified vehicles, in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Conducts pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of trips, including driver logs, mileage, and delivery receipts.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, including hours‑of‑service requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and supervisors to provide updates on delivery status and address any issues or delays.
  • Handle paperwork and documentation associated with shipments, including bills of lading and delivery confirmations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized truck, inside and out, and perform routine vehicle maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe driving practices.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by interacting professionally with customers, colleagues, and handling inquiries or concerns.
  • Follow company policies and procedures related to driver safety, performance, and conduct.
Required Qualifications ("must haves" are in bold)
  • Minimum drive age 25.
  • Minimum three (3) consecutive years of class A experience with similar vehicles and equipment.
  • Valid California Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Valid TWIC Card
  • Clean driving record (based on our insurance company requirements) – No more than 3 minor citations in the last three (3) years, no major citations in the last five (5) years and no more than one (1) accident regardless of fault.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Ability to use computer and smart phone devices at an intermediate or higher level.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with those in the Company and customers.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Physically demanding role including, but not limited to, lifting up to 35 pounds, sitting for extended periods of time, standing, walking, bending, reaching, turning handles and climbing. Requires using hands to climb into and out of vehicle, control or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Work performed out of doors and subject to environmental conditions including heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.

Pay Range

$29.00 per hour plus overtime

Workweek

Monday through Friday – Typically 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Payroll Week

Monday through Sunday, 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM
