Essential Functions
Drive and control on/off‑road equipment to haul supplies to and from the work site, including public highway systems.
- Operate and manipulate equipment with integrated mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic systems/controls by coding computers or adjusting levers, gears, valves, switches, and related controls.
- Operate mobile equipment and hand tools for digging, ditching, sloping, stripping, grading, back filling, mowing, clearing, and excavation.
- Load and unload rock, debris, earth, trees and materials—including abrasives, de‑icing chemicals, and hazardous materials—using loaders, trucks, hand‑trucks, forklifts, dolly‑lifts, and hoists.
- Use hand tools such as jackhammers, mechanical tampers, power saws, air compressors, hydraulic drivers, and similar equipment for general road, ground, or structure repairs.
- Perform construction/maintenance repairs in carpentry, welding, and masonry.
- Respond to environmental/highway emergencies to control snow, storm water, hazardous debris, oil spills, etc. on roads and grounds.
- Employ traffic control techniques to manage vehicular traffic movements.
- Conduct preventive maintenance, operational checks, pre‑ and post‑ walk‑around inspections, and repair or adjust equipment as needed; report any damage or required maintenance.
- Operate draw and swing bridges to allow safe passage of water and roadway traffic.
Applicants must demonstrate competence in the following areas:
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including lubricating, cleaning, and servicing.
- Knowledge of operating various equipment used in repair, maintenance, and development of roads, grounds, or structures such as jack hammers, power saws, air compressors, or hydraulic piston drivers.
- Knowledge of operating motorized equipment used for groundskeeping, snow removal, or hauling materials.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license (not suspended, revoked, or cancelled).
- Must possess a valid driver’s license (not suspended, revoked, or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
- Must possess a valid CDL Class A or B driver’s license (or obtain one during the initial 90‑day probationary period).
- Pre‑employment drug testing is required upon a conditional offer.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States;
