Role Description The K–8 Tutor will provide individualized and small-group academic support to elementary and middle school students in core subjects such as math, reading, writing, and science. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering lesson activities aligned with students’ academic goals, monitoring progress, and adjusting instruction based on assessment and classroom performance. The tutor will communicate regularly with families and, when applicable, school staff to share updates and recommend strategies for ongoing improvement.

This is a part-time, on-site role located in Wilmington, MA, requiring consistent scheduling and a professional, student-centered approach during all sessions.

Qualifications

  • Strong instructional and classroom-management skills, with the ability to engage K–8 students and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Proficiency in core academic subjects for K–8 (e.g., math, reading, writing, and basic science) and comfort supporting homework, test preparation, and skill-building.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, families, and colleagues in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Ability to use educational technology and digital tools to enhance lessons, track student progress, and maintain records accurately.
  • Previous experience tutoring, teaching, or working with children in educational settings is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or current enrollment in a relevant degree program) in education, child development, or a related field is beneficial.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting learners with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles.
  • Reliables transportation to the Wilmington, MA location and availability for consistent part-time hours, including after-school or early evening sessions as needed.
