Supervisor II of Robotic Test Technicians

The Supervisor II of Robotic Test Technicians leads daily operations for the functional testing, troubleshooting, and validation of autonomous robotic systems. This role is responsible for driving team performance, ensuring product quality, and maintaining efficient test processes in a fast-paced, solutions-oriented environment. The Supervisor acts as a technical leader and mentor, supporting continuous improvement while coordinating cross-functional activities with engineering, quality, and production teams.

This is a split shift position, covering portions of both 1st and 2nd shift.

The Test team within the Service Center of Excellence supports all functional testing and troubleshooting activities for Symbotic's autonomous robots at the Repair Centers. The team works in close collaboration with Repair and Inspection Techs, Engineering, Quality, and other departments as necessary.

What you'll do:
  • Lead and supervise a team of robotic test technicians, ensuring productivity, quality, and adherence to testing standards
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on robotic systems, including electromechanical assemblies, embedded systems, and test procedures
  • Oversee functional testing, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis of autonomous robots and subassemblies
  • Ensure timely execution of test schedules while meeting production and delivery targets
  • Review and validate test results, defect tracking, and documentation in internal systems
  • Drive root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring failures found in OOB investigations
  • Monitor and improve test efficiency, throughput, and process standardization
  • Lead daily stand‑ups, communicate priorities, and elevate issues as needed
  • Train, mentor, and onboard technicians in troubleshooting, testing processes, and best practices
  • Enforce safety standards, ESD compliance, and quality control procedures
  • Support software/firmware updates and ensure proper configuration management
  • Manage labor allocation, shift coverage, and workload balancing
  • Provide performance feedback, coaching, and development plans for team members
  • Support travel to customer sites for testing, deployment, and issue resolution as needed
What you'll need:
  • Degree or certification in Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in robotics, automotive, or electronics testing/production environments
  • Minimum of 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience preferred; ability to lead teams, prioritize tasks, and drive results in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong hands‑on expertise in:
    • Electro‑mechanical systems (motors, actuators, sensors, controllers)
    • Embedded systems and Linux‑based platforms
    • Electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics
    • Experience with root‑cause analysis, failure investigation, and corrective action processes
    • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
    • Proficiency with tools such as Excel, Word, and collaboration platforms (e.g., Teams)
    • Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
    • Knowledge of ESD practices, quality systems, and escalation procedures
    • Comfortable working in a production or lab environment with mechanical and electrical equipment
    • Willingness to travel to customer sites as required
Our Environment:
  • There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure. You may be required to routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure.
  • You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.
  • Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105 F to 32 F Fahrenheit.
  • At times you may be at a construction site with PPE required (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection e.g., safety harness).
  • Frequent ability to safely and efficiently lift items weighing up to 50 lbs and move items weighing up to 80 lbs.
  • Stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours and is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
