POSITION SUMMARY:

The Principal Electrical Engineer is a key technical leader who drives the design, development, testing, and delivery of innovative products and systems. In this highly visible role, you will work directly with customers to understand their challenges, translate requirements into impactful solutions, and help shape the future of our technology.

Combining technical expertise with strategic thinking, you will solve complex engineering problems, validate cutting-edge concepts, and provide leadership and mentorship to engineers and engineering technicians. You will collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and senior leaders—both within Advanced Energy and externally—to deliver exceptional results and advance mission-critical programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the design and analysis of systems, products, and subsystems/circuits to specification, cost, budget, schedule, and quality goals.

Responsible to diagnose issues of diverse scope with design, field performance, reliability and test yields of products and recommend/implement corrective actions to address

Assume responsibility for the success of the product/system in the customers' applications and recommend/implement corrective actions as needed

Follow key engineering procedures in the Product Development Process and ECO process

Work with manufacturing locations and supply chain groups to implement cost reductions, manufacturability improvements, and quality improvements for existing products WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Works in a noisy, fast-paced power development lab and standard office environment

Flexibility working across time zones as part of a global team, as required

Uses electronic equipment and can work with high voltage

Domestic and international travel of up to 10%
Interfaces with internal and external customers

Onsite technical support at customer locations

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Comprehensive knowledge of kV high-voltage design practices and engineering processes

Expert-level knowledge of power electronics designAC/DC and DC/DC switched-mode power supply designEMI/EMC design, analysis, and mitigation

Magnetic component design and optimization

Power component selection, including MOSFETs, GaN FETs, gate…
