The CNC Machinist II is responsible for producing machined parts using computer numerical control (CNC) machines while maintaining quality, safety, and recording standards. The role must align with Tecomet’s principles of continuous improvement, customer-driven innovation, and a win-first culture.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and set‑up CNC machines within specified tolerances following work instructions, machine programs, and engineering drawings.
  • Perform progressive machining of various parts and metals requiring close tolerances.
  • Change dull tooling and make minor offsets and adjustments as needed for tooling wear.
  • Achieve product quality by applying operator‑owned quality (OOQ) standards, using a range of measuring equipment, and interpreting results.
  • Perform routine maintenance according to a daily machine checklist and adhere to preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Provide hand finishing and complete job routers/cards in compliance with Good Manufacturing and Good Document Practices (GMP/GDP).
  • Maintain safe working practices, minimize risks, identify and report safety, health, and environmental issues.
  • Achieve productivity targets and identify opportunities to improve productivity.
  • Record all activities promptly on the job tracking system.
  • Support continuous improvement activities and participate in issue resolution with team leaders or supervisors.
  • Maintain 5S and housekeeping standards within the work area.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years CNC machining experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or certificate in Tooling & Machining or completion of a machinist apprenticeship.
  • Experience in a production environment.
  • GCSE/NVQ Math and English qualifications (UK only).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to operate, set up, and maintain CNC machines.
  • Ability to run multiple CNC machines simultaneously.
  • Proficient math skills, including measurement and record keeping.
  • Effective planning, prioritizing, and task organization under competing deadlines.
  • Follow work instructions accurately.
  • Demonstrated record of quality, on‑time production runs.
  • Commitment to safety at all times.
  • Attention to detail and ability to perform repeatable tasks over extended periods.
  • Positive, reliable team player.
  • Identify problems and escalations as required.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid computer proficiency.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication.
Work Environment &

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a manufacturing setting that may involve standing, walking, using hand and arm movements, speaking, and hearing. Operators may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. The job requires use of close, distance, and peripheral vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
