Job Description & How to Apply Below

We’re looking for an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer to help shape the next generation of VI Chip power components. In this role, you’ll design and develop robust embedded firmware architectures, collaborate closely with analog and hardware engineers, and drive innovation across our power‑supply platforms. If you’re passionate about firmware excellence, system‑level problem‑solving, and building reusable, scalable solutions—this is a great opportunity to make an impact.

Rate Range: $90,000-$110,000 per annum;
The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

What You’ll Do
  • Design and develop embedded firmware architectures optimized for controlling families of VI Chip power components.
  • Work closely with analog engineers to create control algorithms and embedded firmware for power‑supply platforms.
  • Diagnose issues and implement updates or bug fixes using scope traces and other hardware‑based data.
  • Define standardized processes, methodologies, and tools for creating power‑converter control algorithms across VI Chip product lines.
  • Incorporate product, manufacturing, and test requirements throughout all phases of firmware design.
  • Evaluate and select microcontrollers using detailed trade‑off analysis to meet performance, functionality, and cost targets.
  • Translate requirements into tasks, provide effort estimates, and collaborate with the team to meet project deadlines and milestones.
  • Mentor hardware power‑supply engineers to help them contribute effectively to firmware development.
  • Ensure the use of formal development practices and industry best standards when creating reusable firmware modules.
  • Contribute to requirements definition, design documentation, and overall system documentation.
  • Support unit testing, verification, and validation to ensure firmware quality, reliability, and performance.
Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, microcontroller/microprocessor programming, and hardware/software debugging.
  • Proficiency in C and Assembly programming.
  • Proven ability to deliver high‑quality work under tight timelines.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to partner across engineering, marketing, and manufacturing.
  • Self‑driven with strong analytical thinking, debugging skills, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and an effective communicator.
  • Experience with power‑supply design and testing is a significant plus.
  • Experience with Simulink, State Flow, Microsoft Visual Studio, and ARM Cortex‑M0 architectures is a plus.
