Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Wilmington, North Carolina. This Contract-to-Permanent role involves providing accurate bookkeeping, payroll, and financial reporting services to a diverse range of clients, with a focus on nonprofit organizations. Responsibilities:

- Record daily financial transactions and ensure proper posting in Quick Books Online and Desktop.

- Prepare and manage accounts receivable invoices, record payments, and handle deposits.

- Process accounts payable, including entry of bills and payment management.

- Collect and input credit card expenses into the accounting system.

- Administer payroll tasks, including generating checks, filing tax forms, and managing tax payments.

- File sales tax returns and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

- Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, credit card accounts, and balance sheet accounts.

- Create journal entries in alignment with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

- Maintain the general ledger's accuracy and integrity.

- Prepare client-specific financial statements and reports as required. Requirements - A minimum of 2 years of detail-oriented bookkeeping experience.

- Proficiency in Quick Books Online and Desktop software.

- Strong understanding of accrual accounting principles.

- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.

- Familiarity with grant accounting and reporting processes.

- Ability to reconcile financial accounts and maintain general ledger accuracy.

- Knowledge of sales tax filing procedures.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
