RQ construction is quickly becoming one of the leading players in the commercial & government industry on the East Coast. We have multiple projects throughout the Jacksonville, NC area, and are seeking a full-time Concrete Finisher to join our team. This position will be based out of Jacksonville, NC.
Job SummaryThis position is responsible for all stages of concrete preparation and placement work, including screeding and finishing surfaces of poured concrete such as floors, walks, sidewalks, roads, and curbs using a variety of hand and power tools. The role also involves layout and construction of formwork to build foundations, curbs, ramps, walls, and columns. Responsibilities include patching voids and cutting control/contraction joints with saws, as well as assisting in non-concrete related construction work as assigned.
All work is performed on military bases and is paid the required Davis-Bacon prevailing wage. Employees will be compensated for travel time according to company policy. The role requires the implementation of the required safety practices in support of RQ's Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Prepare concrete surfaces by screeding and finishing floors, walks, sidewalks, roads, and curbs using hand and power tools.
- Layout and construct formwork for foundations, curbs, ramps, walls, and columns.
- Patch voids and cut control/contraction joints with saws.
- Assist in non-concrete related construction work as assigned.
- Use appropriate equipment and implement required safety practices.
- High school diploma or GED (preferred minimum formal education).
- Five or more years (or equivalent) field or trade work experience in concrete within the construction industry, with government, military, or large commercial construction experience preferred.
- English speaking, writing, and reading skills.
- Specific training or certificates in Trenching and shoring training, Fall protection training, Confined space training, OSHA 10-hour.
