Asphalt Paver Operator

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Asphalt Paver Operator to join our road construction crew. In this role, you will operate the asphalt paver from the top deck console, controlling the movement, speed, and material flow of the machine. As a senior equipment operator, you will guide dump trucks, regulate asphalt delivery to the screed, set the paving pace, and coordinate directly with truck drivers and ground crews to ensure precise asphalt placement.

• Operate the asphalt paver in a straight line at a consistent speed to match incoming dump trucks and prevent structural defects.
• Guide arriving dump trucks into position and use the paver to push trucks forward safely while unloading hot asphalt into the hopper.
• Control hydraulic hopper wings, internal conveyors, and augers to regulate precise material flow from the hopper to the screed.
• Serve as the on-site navigator by setting the paving pace and executing the project layout plan.
• Coordinate closely with truck drivers, screed operators, and ground crew members to maintain efficient paving operations.
• Perform daily pre-operation inspections, routine maintenance, and safety checks on the paving equipment.

• Proven experience operating an asphalt paver and heavy road construction equipment.
• Thorough knowledge of asphalt paving procedures, speed matching techniques, and material flow control.
• Strong spatial awareness and ability to steer heavy machinery with high accuracy.
• Ability to direct truck drivers and collaborate effectively with crew members on active job sites.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and high-temperature environments.
• Valid driver license and reliable transportation to project locations.
