Brief Summary of Work for this PositionThe Assistant Coach assists the Head Coach in providing leadership for a NCAA Division I women s tennis program. Assists with all aspects of the women s tennis program and plays an integral part in the day-to-day administrative responsibilities, daily team training, evaluation and recruitment of student-athletes, academic monitoring, and skill development. This position must work within UNCW, CAA, and NCAA guidelines to provide student-athletes an exceptional collegiate experience while competing for championships.
Responsibilities- Assists the Head Coach in providing leadership for a NCAA Division I Women s Tennis program along with the overall coaching, management, and administration of the program
- On-court drills, play, and practice feedback for players.
- Match day on-court presence and coaching.
- Head up Team Community Service for spring season.
- Attend road matches and help with travel responsibilities.
- Recruiting - email, contact, tournament recruitment.
- Adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures of the department and university as well as the rules and regulations of the CAA and NCAA
- Participate in university, civic, and public relations activities for promotion of the sport
- Other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Must be highly dependable, flexible, and available to work evenings and weekends
- Possess excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with the public
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time both indoors and outdoors
- Work effectively as a team member
- Previous customer service experience preferred
As needed basis - usually weekend or evening hours

Special Instructions to ApplicantsPlease note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation. Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines.
