The primary purpose of the Physical Plant is to maintain the building, grounds, and infrastructure of the UNCW campus so that it is safe, reliable, clean, and attractive. This includes departments such as HVAC, Electric, Plumbing, Landscaping, Housekeeping, Motor Pool, Food Services Maintenance, Carpentry, Paint and Roofing, Fire Alarm and Physical Security and Access and Locksmith Services.

The Electric Shop in the Physical Plant of Facilities provides maintenance, repair, and installation of campus‑wide electrical primary and secondary distribution, equipment, lighting, and electrical fixtures.
