Bruin Bridge Program Teacher (At-Risk Program)
Starting Date: Aug 4, 2026
Term of Employment: 10 Months
Salary Grade: NC Teacher Salary plus Local Supplement
Job DescriptionPurpose: Provide instruction and coordinate support services to students enrolled in the Bruin Bridge Program. Reinforce instruction to individual students and small groups in various academic subjects and other learning activities, including the implementation of personal education plans and behavior plans. Work with the administration to provide strategic oversight of students' educational, social/emotional, and behavioral progress, as well as their transitions into and out of the program.
Maintain ongoing documentation for students in the program.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related area that will qualify for licensure as a teacher by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

Job Responsibilities
- Facilitates classroom instruction for students in an alternative learning setting.
- Reinforces instruction to individual students and small groups in various academic subjects and other learning activities, including implementing personal education and behavior plans.
- Utilizes various behavioral strategies suitable for at‑risk students enrolled in alternative learning.
- Provides supervision and small‑group or individual instruction to students in the program.
- Assists in the development and implementation of personalized education plans and student supports.
- Provides instruction of social and behavioral skills and character education.
- Assists classroom teachers and school‑based staff to provide high‑quality instruction and a supportive environment.
- Develops and maintains a daily schedule that maximizes program goals, including academic, behavioral and enrichment activities.
- Plans daily instructional activities and facilitates online learning.
- Administers student assessments as needed and develops positive relationships with students.
- Collaborates with teachers, support staff and administrators to modify instruction based on student performance.
- Builds trusting relationships with staff to promote mutual respect and collaborative practices to impact student learning.
- Be CPI certified or agree to become CPI‑certified.
- Provides feedback to teachers and administrators on student progress.
- Maintains student records, confidentially and accurately documents progress, attendance and other data.
- Communicates with parents, teachers and service providers as needed and submits reports to the Director of Alternative Learning and Interventions.
- Maintains proper certification and demonstrates professionalism and ethics.
- Performs other duties as assigned and, when necessary, provides transportation for students.
- Continuous monitoring of students' safety and well‑being.
- Motivation and ability to maintain a clean, orderly environment.
- General clerical duties, including operating standard office machines and maintaining essential files.
- Understanding and following oral and written instructions.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships as required by job assignments.
