Temp Faculty Center for Academic Advising UNI 101/201 First Year Seminar

This temporary faculty position involves teaching one or more sections of the Center for Academic Advising courses: UNI 101 – First‑Year Seminar or UNI 201 – Transfer Seminar. Course credits range from 1 to 3 hours, and the instructor is expected to teach on‑campus, primarily between 8:00 AM and 4:45 PM. The role supports students in building community, utilizing campus resources, planning academically, exploring career options, and mastering essential academic strategies and information literacy.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver course content and facilitate discussions for assigned classes.
  • Assess student work and provide timely feedback.
  • Encourage student participation and foster a supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and grade records.
  • Coordinate with Center for Academic Advising staff to integrate advising and curricular resources.
Qualifications
  • Minimum: Master’s degree; prior college‑level teaching experience; experience in academic advising or student counseling.
  • Preferred: Teaching experience with UNI 101, 102, or 201; experience working with first‑year or transfer students.
  • Must complete the UNI Instructor Information Session video before application.
  • Current or former UNCW employees must be exempt from overtime to be eligible.
