Adelphi is seeking a Teacher of the Visually Impaired to provide direct and consultative services to students within a shool distict in Wilmington, North Carolina. The Teacher of the Visually Impaired will assess student needs, provide specialized instruction, support IEP development, adapt educational materials, provide braille-related services, and collaborate with school personnel and families.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Current North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in Visual Impairment.
- Knowledge of IEPs, accessible instruction, braille, and material adaptation.
- Experience with assistive technology and low-vision devices.
- Experience with Cortical Visual Impairment preferred.
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel between assigned schools.
Responsibilities
- Assess students’ educational and functional visual needs.
- Develop and support measurable IEP goals and objectives.
- Provide direct specialized instruction to students with visual impairments.
- Adapt instructional materials into accessible formats.
- Provide or coordinate braille transcription and instruction.
- Teach students to use assistive technology and low-vision devices.
- Consult with teachers, families, and related service professionals.
- Monitor student progress and maintain daily service documentation.
- Attend IEP meetings, staff meetings, and parent conferences.
- Travel between assigned schools and comply with District requirements.
